Our houses's website - Brady

Sorry - I don't want to bore you with post after post about our for-sale house. I just wanted to show off this great website Kevin made with the help of a website Amy told us about.

Click here to go to Brady and Kevin's house website.

We're also having an open house this Sunday from 1-4, which will be weird. I don't know if I'm mentally prepared to have a bunch of strangers walking around our house thinking about buying it. I'm equally not ready to have no one come, if that's how it turns out. :)

I find myself wishing someone will buy it fast and wishing no one ever will at the same time.

I also find myself feeling like I need to clean and organize every little bit of our house and yard which is NEVER going to happen. I'm trying to just chill out about that. I think (I hope) as long as it's not gross and falling apart that people will be able to see themselves living here.

Spring Fever -Amy

The kids at school are INSANE.

I don't know what happened to my happy little class! They are still such sweet and funny kids, but it's like they all have spring fever. They have never been a class of squirmy worms, and that is the only way to describe them now! It's funny though, I actually think I remember during student teaching that the same thing happened. I think kids and teachers both start getting antsy around this time of year, and are pretty much just ready for a break!

That being said, I know it is going to be VERY hard for me to finish out this school year. Not because they are being crazy, not being it's a lot of work, not because we have a lot left to do. Nope. It is going to be SO hard to finish, because I am going to miss these crazy critters so much next year! If you really stop and think about it, an elementary school teacher spends 7 hours a day with these kids. 5 days a week. That's 35 hours a week that I spend with these kids NONSTOP. I feel like I know them so well, and I have definitely gotten attached. I am going to have a rough time on the last day of school. They are crazy, but they are seriously awesome.

Stuff for Sale - Brady

Well, I guess this is really happening. Kevin has been a busy bee tonight. First, he added pictures of our house to my Facebook album. You can see those by clicking here. The new ones are toward the end.

Then, he added pictures of our second car. We're selling it because you don't need one car per person in the big city. You can see pictures of the Jetta by clicking here.

He also set up an open house for this coming Sunday, May 2, from 1-4 p.m. We're going to try selling on our own for a couple of weeks before we involve the wonderful realtor who helped us find this house to begin with.

We're at 6519 W Hamilton Rd - Fort Wayne, IN 46814 if anyone wants to come by or to send your friends. :)

We love you all for your support. It's funny how sad it feels to get exactly what I've been wanting for months and months. But it will all be worth it when we get back into our routine as a full-time married couple again.

San Francisco - Kelly

This weekend I have an incredibly long conference where I have A LOT of responsibilities. Plus I'm fighting the same cold I've had all winter. Not the most exciting weekend ever...

... BUT I booked a flight to visit one of my best friends in the entire world over Memorial Day Weekend. AND she lives in San Francisco!!

So I can't be too bummed about a difficult weekend. :)

Here I am with Jasmine (the friend I'm visiting) at a concert in Nashville last winter:

We were DGs together and she is one of my absolute favorite people in the entire world. I can't wait!!

Anybody need a house? - Brady

We hate to leave it. It is a great little house on one of the prettiest streets in Fort Wayne with lots of land and flowering trees. If you know of anyone moving to Fort Wayne, here are some pictures for them to check out. They can also email me at bradykatherinejones@gmail.com

Kevin Got a Job in Chicago - Brady

The time apart is over. We're going to live here together again. It has not sunk in yet.

Some Flowers for You - Brady

Our house in Fort Wayne is absolutely gorgeous right now. We bought this place from two landscapers who planted all kinds of pretty flowering trees. Kevin made this bouquet from a couple of different blooming plants around our house.

1 Year Blogoversary - Brady

I realized today that we started this blog one year ago on April 15. Wow. So much has changed since then. A year ago I was still living with Kevin and teaching high school. I had no idea how badly I would freak out about going away to graduate school and how difficult the first year would be for me.

Amy was still a college student (kind of) and definitely not engaged.

Kelly was living in and loving North Carolina and spending way too much time with 13-year-olds.

Amy and I had a conversation a few nights ago about what we want to do with this blog next. We could keep it the same as it is now - mostly as a way to keep up with friends and family - or we could change it a bit. We were talking about making it more focused on Chicago and the fun things we do here. We shall see!

1 fun thing, 1 disturbing thing -Amy

I wanted to follow up the bridemaid shoe post with a picture of what I believe will be my shoes at the wedding. Perfect, very simple flats. I didn't want much detail, and definitely no heels. My dress is the perfect length, I'm 5'7'', and I HATE heels. There is no need.

Click HERE for the link to my shoes.

Now for the disturbing thing.

I got into a conversation about old 90's toys that my sisters and I had, and I had this one very disturbing memory of a toy that I SWORE I had. Brady had no recollection of it. So I did some searching, and it was, in fact, very real and very disturbing. Just as I remembered it.

Click HERE for the disturbing video.

Enjoy "My Bundle Baby" and give me a shout out if you were a weird enough little kid to have one, like me.

Shoes for Amy's Wedding - Brady

Kelly and I have the job of picking out bridesmaid shoes for Amy's wedding. She wants dyeable ones from David's Bridal, and we needed to pick styles that wouldn't sink into the grass at my grandparents' house too easily. Here's what we're thinking. Each of the 11 (!) bridesmaids would get to choose.

This first option is for the heel-haters like me.

And these are the heels we were thinking about. They'd be dark brown, too, I just couldn't get the picture to come up right.

10 Miles - Brady

Kevin and I ran 10 miles along the beautiful lake shore trail this morning. Down Wellington to the lake, then down to Navy Pier and back. It was really hard. And I got strangely grouchy when we were done. I think I was so fatigued that I didn't have the capacity for normal social behavior.

BUT, the important thing is that our second-to-longest training run is done, and we have an absolutely gorgeous, low-key Saturday ahead of us.

Would you consider...? - Brady

Over spring break, I celebrated a big milestone in my life. 10 years as a vegetarian. Spring break of my senior year of high school, I ate a very rare steak for dinner, had a crazy dream that night, and gave up meat the next morning. (I know that sounds very new-age, but that's actually how it happened.)

Vegetarianism has become such an ingrained part of my life that I don't even really think about it anymore. My eyes just scan over the meat items on restaurant menus and zero in on the options available to me. I have my vegetarianism "conversion story" and the reasons behind my decision to remain a vegetarian down pat.

As a gift to me for going TEN YEARS without meat, would you consider doing one small thing? Would you consider making one change in your diet that would decrease your meat consumption? Maybe you could just learn one meatless recipe. Or find a favorite meatless dish at a restaurant you go to a lot. Or, if you can go BIGGER, maybe you could eat meatless lunches or dinners one or two days a week. Or do meatless Mondays. I promise - it'll be great for you, great for the environment, and great for animals.

As for me, I'm trying to slowly take my vegetarianism to a new level and go as humane as possible with my dairy and eggs. I'm working on knowing my farmers and how their animals are raised. I'm also trying to eat locally more often.

If you're interested in reading a really good article on how eating less meat is good for the environment, click here.

And here is a link to the PB & J campaign website. This is a fun organization that also encourages taking a small step that makes a big difference.
