Vegetarianism has become such an ingrained part of my life that I don't even really think about it anymore. My eyes just scan over the meat items on restaurant menus and zero in on the options available to me. I have my vegetarianism "conversion story" and the reasons behind my decision to remain a vegetarian down pat.
As a gift to me for going TEN YEARS without meat, would you consider doing one small thing? Would you consider making one change in your diet that would decrease your meat consumption? Maybe you could just learn one meatless recipe. Or find a favorite meatless dish at a restaurant you go to a lot. Or, if you can go BIGGER, maybe you could eat meatless lunches or dinners one or two days a week. Or do meatless Mondays. I promise - it'll be great for you, great for the environment, and great for animals.
As for me, I'm trying to slowly take my vegetarianism to a new level and go as humane as possible with my dairy and eggs. I'm working on knowing my farmers and how their animals are raised. I'm also trying to eat locally more often.

And here is a link to the PB & J campaign website. This is a fun organization that also encourages taking a small step that makes a big difference.
You know I'm in! It always surprises me that for as much interest there is in natural makeup and organic kitchen cleaners, etc., that scarce attention is paid to what most people put inside of their bodies. Sure, people buy organic veggies, but it's radical to reconsider ground beef. I'll step off the soapbox, though. It really is a small change that can make a big difference. Environmentalists should be vegetarians; when I'm off my soapbox, I'll temper that to say environmentalists should limit their meat consumption.
